Working at NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD) means I get to work on all kinds of projects that support youth and communities across NYC, which honestly keeps the job exciting because no two projects ever feel the same. Since DYCD funds programs citywide, I get to collaborate with different units and create flyers and visuals for events, initiatives, outreach campaigns, and community programs.
One thing I genuinely love most is flyer design. I love taking a bunch of information and figuring out how to make it feel clear, eye catching, and actually engaging instead of just another boring flyer people scroll past. A lot of my work is focused on making community centered design feel modern, approachable, and full of personality while still getting the message across. Some of my favorite projects are the ones where I get to really play with layout, typography, color, and imagery to give each initiative its own feel. Here are a few flyer designs I’ve created that I really enjoyed working on.
